(Silk Road News Agency’s Mandalay Station)On September 29, 2026, the inaugural ceremony of the rotating leadership of the Myanmar Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce and the 2026 China–Myanmar Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange were held grandly in Yangon. H.E. Ma Jia, Ambassador of China to Myanmar, and U Than Sin Lwin, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations of Myanmar, attended the event and delivered speeches. More than 500 participants joined the gathering, including Counselor Ouyang Daobing from the Chinese Embassy, representatives from the Yangon Region Government, Myanmar business communities, and Chinese-invested enterprises.
During the ceremony, Counselor Ouyang Daobing awarded the “President Unit” plaque to Liu Ming, President of the Yangon Branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), marking a new stage of organized coordination for Chinese enterprises operating in Myanmar. The recognition highlights the role of leading financial institutions in supporting bilateral investment, trade settlement, and local economic development.
The Silk Road Mandalay Guild and the Silk Road News Agency’s Mandalay Correspondence Station extended warm congratulations on the successful holding of the inaugural ceremony and the economic and trade exchange. As civil platforms under the Silk Road cultural framework, they noted that the chamber’s renewal will strengthen people-to-people bonds, business interoperability, and civilized mutual learning between China and Myanmar, and provide a more stable channel for enterprises to participate in the Belt and Road cooperation on the ground.
The event reflected the broader momentum of China–Myanmar practical cooperation: from policy communication at the diplomatic level to project matching between chambers of commerce, from banking support to local community engagement. Observers noted that amid complex regional dynamics, such civil and commercial mechanisms help cushion uncertainties, pool resources, and keep the Silk Road spirit alive at the grassroots level.
Going forward, the Myanmar Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce is expected to play a bigger role in safeguarding Chinese investors’ rights, promoting compliant operations, facilitating local employment, and deepening China–Myanmar economic and trade ties. The Silk Road Mandalay Guild pledged to continue using cultural memorial days, exchange activities, and cross-border communication to support mutual trust and shared development between the two countries.
